With Laboperator you can create Dashboards using different channels from Devices. Every Device comes with a pre-defined set of channels that can be displayed in different Dashboard Elements. This way you can monitor real-time updates of various Device channels in a single Dashboard.

Create a Dashboard
Please follow the steps below to create a new Dashboard:
- Click on the + ADD button within the navigation menu and select Dashboard.
- In the pop-up window:
- Choose the Collection it should be created in.
- Name the Dashboard.
- If necessary, select a Dashboard you want to copy from by typing in the name of the Dashboard.
- The Dashboard is now available in the selected Collection and can be moved, edited, shared, archived, etc. from here like any other Resource.
Change the name of the Dashboard
Please follow the steps below if you want to change the name of your Dashboard:
- On the left-side choose a Collection. Afterward left-click on a Dashboard and on the right-side on EDIT.
- Enter a new name and click on SUBMIT.
Add Dashboard Elements
Note: You can also add Dashboard Elements not directly related to Devices such as separators or web pages.
Please follow the steps below to add Dashboard Elements to your empty Dashboard:
- From an empty Dashboard, click on the ADD ELEMENT button. Alternatively, you can navigate on the right-side to the info button > Layout tab and click on Add element.
- From the drop-down window choose the Element type you want to add and click on NEXT.
- Depending on the Element type you chose, different parameters have to be set. For example, using a Gauge you have to set the following parameters:
- After clicking on Selected Channels the following pop-up window will open where a Device and a channel the Gauge should display need to be selected.
- The minimum value of the scale is displayed in the Dashboard.
- The maximum value of the scale is displayed in the Dashboard.
- The name of a label for the Element.
- The size of the label.
- The color of the label.
- Clicking on confirm at the bottom of the Context Menu, the new dashboard Element will be created.
Tip: Sometimes it is not trivial how a specific Dashboard Element can be created. To get inspiration or assistance, view the default Dashboard Element settings from the Devices you want to create a Dashboard from.
Changing or deleting Dashboard Elements
To change or delete Dashboard Elements, please follow the steps below:
- Double-click on a Dashboard to open it.
- Right-click on the Dashboard Element you want to view the settings of and click on Settings.
- Within the context menu on the right side, you can view/change the following settings:
- Click on Selected Channels to view/change the selected Devices and Channels.
- Change the title text, size, or color of your Element.
- Delete the Element by clicking on REMOVE.
Scope of Dashboard Element
This functionality allows you a real-time view of measured raw data. To access this, please follow the steps below:
- Double-click on a Dashboard to open it.
- Follow the steps below:
- Right-click on the Dashboard Element you want to view the Scope from and click on Scope.
- Click here to change the displayed time frame.
- Either hover over a square to have an overview of the measured Items or click on it to review the measured Items.
Data Export for a Dashboard
To export the measured raw data from your Export into JSON, CSV, or Excel, please follow the steps below:
- Double-click on a Dashboard to open it.
- To export the measured data of an Element, please follow the steps below:
- Use a right-click on the Dashboard Element you want the export from and click on Export.
- To change the range of the data you want to export, click on the Clock button at the top.
- Choose a time frame under Live Scope and afterward click on the Window button to change back to the export view
- Choose the File Format.
- Choose a timespan to aggregate the raw data of your export. This can be useful for example to synchronize timestamps of different devices at the needed precision.
- Click CREATE to extract an Export.
Audit Trail of Dashboards
To access the Audit Trail of Dashboards, please follow the steps below:
- Double-click on a Dashboard to open it.
- In the top header on the right-side open the context menu by clicking on the i button and afterward click on Audit Trail.
Start Measurement
Connecting a Device to Laboperator allows users to start measurements at any time. Please follow the steps below for starting a Measurement through a Dashboard. For more details, please have a look here.
- Double-click on a Dashboard to open it.
- To start a Measurement, please follow the steps below:
- Open the right panel by clicking on the i button.
- Click on the measurement tab.
- Click on Start Measurement.
- To open the measurement click on the open in new window icon.
- To finish the measurement click on STOP NOW.
- Below you can find an overview of the measurement.
- At the bottom, you can see an overview of previous Related Measurements. The checkmark indicates the current running Measurement.
Changing the Layout of a Dashboard
The layout of Dashboards is highly customizable and can be adapted at any time. To change the layout of a Dashboard, please follow the steps below:
- Double-click on a Dashboard to open it.
- To change the layout of your Dashboard, please follow the steps below:
- Open the right panel by clicking on the i button and afterward click on the layout tab.
- Use the toggle switch to turn on the Layout Tool.
- Now you can adjust your dashboard elements in position and size using drag and drop functionality. In the top left corner of each element, you can grab the element and change the position on the dashboard.
- In the bottom right corner, you can grab the element to adjust the size of the Element.
- Click on the bottom-pointing arrow to expand the Advanced Options. See also next paragraph for more information.
- Click on Add element to add new Elements to your Dashboard.
- Click on Export Template to export the Dashboard Template.
- Click on Reset layout to reactivate the default layout.
- Find on the right-side an overview of all used Elements in the Dashboard.
Advanced layout options for Dashboards
Dashboards are, like the Laboperator interface in general, responsive and thus a specific layout only works perfectly on the same screen size and resolution. To change the settings here, please follow the steps below:
- Double-click on a Dashboard to open it.
- On the right-side:
- Open the right panel by clicking on the i button and afterward click on the layout tab.
- Click on Advanced Options to expand the menu.
- To display the Elements Vertically Compact use the toggle switch.
- For different screen resolutions (e.g. for tablets, laptops, smartphones, and desktop screens) different layouts can be applied by changing the number of columns. For example, on a tablet, you might want to display the single elements over the entire width of the dashboard and choose 1 column accordingly. For a desktop screen, however, you choose 2 columns to display two elements side by side.
- Enter different values for Row height, Vertical margin, and Horizontal margin.
Tip: Use developer tools of your browser to simulate different end-devices/ resolutions. For example in Google Chrome use control+shift+i (cmd+option+i on Mac) to open the developer view and then control+shift+m to display different resolutions.
Download a Dashboard Template
To download the template of your Dashboard, please follow the steps below:
- Double-click on a Dashboard to open it.
- On the right-side:
- Open the right panel by clicking on the i button and afterward click on the layout tab.
- Choose Export Template. It will be downloaded as JSON.
