The following information is intended for the operator of our platform.
Release frequency and availability
Labforward releases at least one new version every week. After the release, the new deployment will be available in the admin dashboard. It is the operator's responsibility to decide when to deploy any new version.
- The minor and patch versions are optional. It is possible to skip a few minor versions and deploy the next one.
- Major versions are mandatory. The admin must update to the newest major version before receiving further updates.
Version Compatibility
We follow the Semantic Versioning approach. Every update of a minor or patch version is compatible with the previous version. Hence, roll back and roll forward will work. The admin can deploy these versions at any moment by pressing Deploy. No further actions are required.
Major version updates are not guaranteed to be compatible with previous versions and may require additional actions from the admins. Labforward will inform you about possible extra actions in the release notes.
Note: The first release of a new major version is mandatory. It is not possible to skip a major version, and it is not possible to roll back to before a major version.
