Kubernetes uses the e-mail server configured in the admin console → Config in the Email Server - SMTP configurations.
Labforward validates that the e-mail connection is reachable in the preflight checks using OpenSSL.
For a more detailed validation, use the Troubleshoot feature in the admin console. Then, go to File Inspector → labforward-checks → email-openssl.log | email-swaks.log:
1. email-openssl.log → Show information about the connection with the configured e-mail server, including the TLS certificate, if enabled;
2. email-swaks.log → Validates the e-mail server by sending an actual e-mail to the recipient configured in Config → Show E-mail Configurations → SMTP Reply-To Email.
Both log files will have detailed information in case something goes wrong.
