Should your import file have unequally as many columns as your Category has got Attributes, there are two cases to consider: If there are MORE columns than attributes, you just need to make sure you have moved the items to be imported above the cut line. The rest will be taken care of. There must, however, strictly NOT be LESS columns than attributes!

As already noted above, there must not be fewer columns (in your import file) than Attributes (in your Category)!

Note: "The attributes from your Excel file cannot be less than the category attributes"!
